Le Rosé de Pabus 'Cuvée Prestige'

Château Pabus

Le Rosé de Pabus
‘Cuvée Prestige’

This fresh and tasteful rosé wine combines Malbec grapes (50%) for extra fruitiness and Merlot grapes (50%) giving the wine a touch of elegance.

A perfect companion at lunch, dinner, or a refined aperitif.

The vinification in oak casks gives the wine extra structure and body. It makes this rosé wine a perfect companion at lunch, dinner, or a refined aperitif.

The wine has a beautiful pink color with bluish reflections. The nose is marked by fresh fruits and white flowers with a touch of brioche and butter.

On the palate, the wine has a nice volume and sweetness
with a hint of freshness on the finish that gives it length
and complexity.

Ageing in Oak Casks

The fresh, hand-picked grapes soak in stainless-steel tanks for the first fermentation.

The timing for this initial step in the vinification process creates the typical salmon colour of the Rosé de Pabus ‘Cuvée Prestige’.

The juice from the Merlot and Malbec grapes is extracted into stainless-steel tanks and put to rest for one week through cold stabling.

The wine is aged in oak casks previously used for the ageing of Château Pabus and Petit Pabus.

Gentle, gravity-based extraction from stainless-steel tanks to 500
and 225-litre oak casks previously used for the aging of Château Pabus and Petit Pabus wines.

These oak casks are partly saturated, still gently providing extra complexity, structure, and body to the wine, while preserving it’s freshness and fruitiness. The wine is aged for six months.

Vintage: 2021

Climate

This vintage is an extremely challenging vintage because of the weather conditions. We worked around the clock to protect our vines. Some were threatened by frost, other by disease pressure over the cool and wet summer. Thanks to our great team, we suffered no losses and enjoyed favorable weather during the harvest.

Harvest

We started harvesting at the beginning of October. Spring was difficult but the Indian summer made everything right. Lovely acidity, a promise of longevity; freshness and very expressive, fruity character. Another facet: mature tannins that are both smooth and silky with alcoholic potency. These wines have extraordinary potential!

Tasting Notes

Beautiful pink colour with bluish reflections. The nose is marked by fresh fruits and white flowers with a touch of brioche and butter. On the palate, the wine has a nice volume and sweetness with a hint of freshness on the finish that gives it length and complexity.

Vintage: 2020

Climate

A year like no other. Unpredictable weather conditions, vineyard operations that were turned upside down during the spring lockdown, an early vintage from bud break to the harvest, a perfect Indian summer… 2020 really put our expertise to the test. This vintage will undoubtedly leave its mark on the history of the Bordeaux wine region.

Harvest

The Merlot harvest began September 24th. Picking ended in the first week of October. Initial tastings suggest an outstanding vintage. Wines best enjoyed young are wonderfully balanced, while those with good ageing potential will develop beautifully.

Tasting Notes

The wine has a beautiful, melon-pink colour with bluish reflections. The nose is marked by fresh grapefruit, white flowers with a touch of English candy. On the palate, the wine has a nice volume and sweetness with a hint of freshness and minerals on the finish that gives it length and complexity.
